What is Coaching? And why am I the coach for you?

I bang on a lot about coaching and what I do, but how do you know if you need coaching? And if you know that, then how do you know I am the coach for you? Let me tell you...


So, first things first, why do you need a coach?


Coaching focuses on future possibilities, not past mistakes' (John Whitmore, 2009)


John Whitmore was a racing driver, who, after retiring from that sport, became interested in psychology and then applied his learnings to sport and business. And from here, in the 1980s, performance coaching became known.

Coaching is about helping someone to go from where they are now to where they want to be. 


Take a moment now to think about your goal - what is it?  What is stopping you from achieving that goal? You will have all you need to achieve that desired outcome. Yet for some of us, we can get in our own way and can’t see beyond some of the challenges and blockers in front of us. Hence my company name of Beyond The Wall; no matter how hard you try, you keep running into a wall, feeling like obstacles are being put up in front you. 

 

What if you could remove those bricks and those obstacles, or find a step to help you move over it?


I am not here to do it for you, but I am here to help you and facilitate you to make the decisions that are right for you.


Although let's be clear - I am not your friend, I may call you out on your own bullshit if needed! BUT I am compassionate, supportive, friendly, and really want the best for you.  My aim with our coaching relationship is that, like a driving instructor, once you are ready, you have control of the wheel and no longer need me!


So, why do you want a coach?


You've got that goal that you want to reach, but for some reason, it all feels like a little too out of reach.... Why is that?

  • At risk of just losing your sparkle? Do you just want to feel like you again?

As you can see, there are LOTS of areas where a coach could be of help. And if it sounds like you could benefit from a coach, then, why choose me as your coach?

  1. I have walked the walked and talked the talk. I have been overweight. I have done WeightWatchers, Rosemary Conley, etc, etc. I have lost weight and kept that weight off and I have learned and studied nutrition so I can help myself and others.

  2. I am an EIQ Qualified Nutrition Coach, plus an ABNLP qualified practitioner and coach. So I have a full toolkit to help you with your goals.

  3. I have experience of changing careers, sectors and becoming self employed.

  4. I have gone from being told to sit down in PE lessons to running half marathons.

  5. I know how it feels to set goals and go for them.

  6. I have pushed the comfort zone and move out of it - with success!

  7. I have not had a perfect life. I have had major bereavements, redundancies, unemployment, but I came through them all.
